Cat's Eye Beads

Kate from http://www.coolest-cat-care.com has asked a question regarding why cat's eye beads are named as such, which I'm sure a lot of people out there will also be curious to know =)

Those beads are actually called cat's eye beads because when they capture and reflect light, there will be a band in the middle that reflects an exceptionally higher amount of light, making it resemble a cat's eye :) These beads do not only come in the shape of round but also many other shapes and sizes. Below is a picture of how it looks like when it captures and reflects light :D
